–     If you have not heard of Ivy Kids here is their description:

Ivy Kids is a monthly educational subscription box for children ages 3-8. Our goal is to make every moment with your child “quality time.” Have the tools at your fingertips to ensure your child has a solid foundation in math, literacy, and science. Help your child build confidence and be well-rounded in all disciplines to ensure future academic success. The activities in the Ivy Kits have been created by certified early childhood teachers with children of their own.

–     B’s grandmother pays for this subscription and I will be forever grateful as it is a family favorite.  My daughter had speech delays and Ivy Kids Kits really has helped us emphasis verbal skills, not to mention the convenience of having around eleven themed lesson plans with parent guides. Each month Ivy Kids Kits also sends a personalized item to subscribers.  This month it was the field journal pictured above along with a pencil. My daughter loves to play with her kit, seems to appreciate the personalized item, and does not even realize that she is enhancing her math, literacy and fine motor skills.  I especially think this kit is great for the pre-schooler since it promotes cognitive thinking, reading literacy and school readiness.

Project One:  Create your own Flower

–     After work B and I created this master piece.  I teach all day but I still had fun putting this together with her.  I tried to reinforce all the names of each part.  She pointed to the roots, stem and leaf.  It really was a fun time for both of us.  The roots did get a little messy as B likes to play with glue a bit too much.

Project Two:  Create your own Birdhouse

–     Daddy and B put this together in no time and had a blast.  Our birdhouse proudly hangs in our front yard.

Project Three:  My Marigold Plant and Observation Book

–     Daddy and B put this plant together and had a good time.  It is sitting on our windowsill as I type.  I realized later that my husband did not plant the marigold seeds but rather one of our counting seeds pictured below.  We have no idea what is growing, but it is, and we are going to move it out back to see what it turns into.

Project Four:  Create your own Garden Scene

–    B and I created an adorable scene but my picture did not come out.  Anytime you say stickers, my daughter comes running.

Project Five:  Garden Game

– My daughter does not sit still so it is often hard to play the games each month but, she loved playing with the flowers and plastic bugs.

Project Six-Twelve:  Seeds (this was several projects in one).

–     I think this was her favorite activity, she loved feeling the seeds, using the magnifying glass and putting each seed into the categories like Large and Small.  My only warning is for those of you with smaller kids.  You have to really watch these seeds as they are a choking hazard.

–    We still have the germinating activity to complete.  I am saving it for a rainy day.  I think visually this will be a very fun activity.

–     Overall I can not do a value break down for all of the activities and materials, but I believe it is worth a lot more than $38.95.  I cannot even imagine having to put together all of the activities and materials.  Ivy Kids Kits saves so much time and it is wonderful to have lesson plans for the whole month.  Don’t forget you can get 20% off your first kit by typing IVY20 at checkout.
